Effective therapy has to provide you with more than just an intellectual understanding of your issues as the behaviors that keep us stuck in life are deeply rooted in our emotions. My wish is for you to feel respected, accepted, and truly known in the therapy relationship. You can then feel safe to share, explore, and make sense of often conflicting thoughts and emotions.
The experiences of working in the “here and now” interactions in the therapy is what is most healing. As you develop an understanding of your experience in the therapy relationship, you become more aware of your patterns of relating in the world. Ultimately, you will learn to value and develop more compassion for yourself. Experiences in the therapy relationship will help you to internalize a more positive view of yourself and improve your ability to trust and communicate with friends and loved ones.
