Human’s ability to grow is infinite when they feel safe.
– Carl Rogers
Effective therapy has to provide you with more than just an intellectual understanding of your issues as the behaviors that keep us stuck in life are deeply rooted in our emotions. My wish is for you to feel respected, accepted, and truly known in the therapy relationship. You can then feel safe to share, explore, and make sense of often conflicting thoughts and emotions. I will listen attentively to you and reflect back a comprehensive understanding of your current life circumstances.
The experiences of working in the “here and now” interactions in the therapy is what is most healing. As you develop an understanding of your experience in the therapy relationship, you become more aware of your patterns of relating in the world. Ultimately, you will learn to value and develop more compassion for yourself. Experiences in the therapy relationship will help you to internalize a more positive view of yourself and improve your ability to trust and communicate with friends and loved ones.
I incorporate evidence- based approaches such as experiential focusing, mindfulness, relational therapy and body focused psychotherapy. Through the years, my experience has consistently been that these approaches are the most valuable force in driving progress in therapy.
Research has shown that these techniques are more powerful in affecting change as they engage the emotional or right brain more.
I take special care to learn about you and tailor the therapy to suit your unique needs and circumstances when you come to therapy. I routinely incorporate other elements into the therapy such as identifying and challenging negative beliefs patterns and helping with problem-solving and coping skills.
I also help you if you have anger management issues by assisting you in uncovering and developing a deeper understanding of what triggers your anger.
